Description

This Classic Espresso Martini is a sophisticated cocktail that combines the bold flavors of freshly brewed espresso with smooth vodka, creamy half and half, and rich Irish cream liqueur. Perfect for an evening pick-me-up or a stylish after-dinner drink, this espresso martini is silky, frothy, and garnished with coffee beans for an elegant touch.

Ingredients

Scale

Liquids

  • 2 ounces vodka
  • 1 ½ ounces half and half
  • 1 ounce Irish cream liqueur (such as Five Farms, Kahlua, or Tia Maria)

Other

  • 2 ounces freshly brewed espresso
  • 3 coffee beans (to garnish)
  • Ice (for shaking)

Instructions

  1. Brew and Cool Espresso: Brew 2 ounces of fresh espresso and allow it to cool completely. To speed up the cooling process, transfer the espresso to a shallow bowl and place it in the freezer for a few minutes.
  2. Prepare the Shaker: Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice. Add the cooled espresso, 1 ounce of Irish cream liqueur, 1 ½ ounces of half and half, and 2 ounces of vodka into the shaker.
  3. Shake Vigorously: Shake the mixture very hard for about 15-20 seconds to create a frothy foam on top. The vigorous shaking chills the drink and combines the ingredients smoothly.
  4. Strain and Serve: Strain the mixture into a chilled martini glass to ensure a smooth, frothy surface without ice shards. Garnish with 3 coffee beans arranged on top for a classic presentation. Serve immediately and enjoy.

Notes

  • Chill your martini glass in the freezer beforehand for an extra cold cocktail.
  • Using freshly brewed espresso is key to achieving the authentic rich coffee flavor.
  • You can substitute half and half with heavy cream for a richer texture or milk for a lighter version.
  • If you prefer a sweeter drink, consider adding a splash of simple syrup.
  • The three coffee beans garnish traditionally symbolizes health, wealth, and happiness.
