Ingredients
Scale
Dough and Filling
- 1 (8-ounce) can refrigerated crescent roll dough or croissant dough
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
Glaze
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1–2 tablespoons milk or cream
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a muffin tin or small baking dish or line it with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- Prepare Dough: Unroll the crescent or croissant dough onto a clean surface and gently press the seams together to form a large, single rectangle.
- Make Cinnamon Filling: In a small bowl, combine the softened butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Mix until smooth and well blended.
- Spread Filling: Evenly spread the cinnamon filling all over the rectangle of dough, ensuring coverage right to the edges for maximum flavor.
- Roll Dough: Starting from the long side, tightly roll the dough into a log shape, keeping it snug to prevent gaps inside the rolls.
- Slice Rolls: Slice the rolled log into 6 to 8 even pieces, depending on your preferred size for the rolls.
- Arrange and Bake: Place each roll cut-side up into the prepared muffin tin or baking dish. Bake in the preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown and puffed up.
- Prepare Glaze: While the rolls bake, whisk together powdered sugar, milk or cream, and vanilla extract in a small bowl until smooth and pourable.
- Glaze and Serve: Once baked, remove the rolls from the oven and immediately drizzle the glaze over the warm rolls. Serve right away for best flavor and texture.
Notes
- These croissant cinnamon rolls are best enjoyed fresh out of the oven but can be reheated in the microwave for 10–15 seconds if needed.
- For added texture, consider sprinkling chopped pecans or walnuts inside the filling before rolling.
- Add a pinch of nutmeg to the cinnamon filling for extra warmth and depth of flavor.
- You can swap milk with cream in the glaze for a richer finish.
