Description

This Easy Baked Salmon with Honey Soy Glaze is a simple, flavorful seafood dish that’s perfect for a quick weeknight dinner. The salmon is coated with a sweet and savory glaze made from low sodium soy sauce, honey, Dijon mustard, garlic, and olive oil, then baked to tender perfection. The method ensures moist, flaky salmon with a beautifully caramelized glaze that pairs well with a variety of sides.

Ingredients

Scale

Salmon

  • 4 salmon fillets, 6 ounces each, skin on

Honey Soy Glaze

  • 1 ½ tablespoons low sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 ½ teaspoons Dijon mustard
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

Instructions

  1. Bring salmon to room temperature: Remove the salmon fillets from the refrigerator and let them sit at room temperature while you prepare the glaze and preheat the oven. This helps ensure even cooking throughout the fillets.
  2. Preheat oven and prepare baking dish: Preheat your oven to 400°F (204°C). Line a 9×13-inch baking dish with parchment paper or aluminum foil to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
  3. Make the glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together the low sodium soy sauce, olive oil, honey, Dijon mustard, and minced garlic until smooth and fully combined. This glaze will add a sweet and savory flavor to the salmon.
  4. Apply initial glaze to salmon: Place the salmon fillets skin-side down in the prepared baking dish. Reserve half of the glaze in a separate clean bowl. Brush or spoon the remaining glaze evenly over the top of the salmon fillets.
  5. Bake and finish glazing: Bake the salmon for 12 minutes. After this initial baking, brush the fillets with the remaining glaze reserved earlier. Continue baking for an additional 2 to 8 minutes, depending on the thickness of your fillets and your preferred level of doneness. The salmon is done when it flakes easily with a fork. For food safety, an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C) is recommended, though some prefer 125-130°F followed by a 3-minute rest before serving.

Notes

  • Letting the salmon come to room temperature before cooking promotes even cooking throughout the fillets.
  • Use low sodium soy sauce to control the saltiness of the glaze.
  • Adjust the final baking time based on the thickness of your salmon fillets for perfect doneness.
  • To check doneness without a thermometer, the salmon should flake easily when tested with a fork.
  • This recipe yields 4 servings of 6-ounce salmon fillets.
