Description

These Easy BBQ Meatball Sliders are a crowd-pleasing appetizer or snack perfect for parties and gatherings. Juicy frozen meatballs cooked in tangy BBQ sauce, topped with melted provolone cheese and nestled inside buttery sesame seed slider buns, baked to perfection. Ready in just 30 minutes and serving 16, they’re a delicious and simple way to enjoy classic BBQ flavors in slider form.

Ingredients

Scale

Sliders

  • 12 Slider Buns
  • 6 slices Provolone Cheese
  • 3 tablespoons Butter, melted
  • 2 teaspoons Sesame seeds

Meatballs and Sauce

  • 12 Frozen Meatballs
  • 15 ounces BBQ Sauce (approximately 1 bottle)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F to prepare for baking the assembled sliders.
  2. Prepare Slider Buns: Grease a casserole dish and place the bottom halves of the 12 slider buns evenly in the dish.
  3. Cook Meatballs: In a large pot, add the frozen meatballs and pour in the entire bottle (15 ounces) of BBQ sauce. Heat over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, and cook for 10-15 minutes until the meatballs are fully heated through and coated in the sauce.
  4. Assemble Sliders: Place one cooked meatball on each slider bun bottom, spooning extra BBQ sauce over the meatballs for added flavor.
  5. Add Cheese: Place a slice of provolone cheese over each meatball to melt during baking.
  6. Top Sliders: Cover each meatball and cheese with the top halves of the slider buns.
  7. Bake Covered: Cover the casserole dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes to allow the cheese to melt and flavors to meld.
  8. Butter and Seed the Buns: Remove the foil and brush the tops of the buns generously with melted butter. Sprinkle sesame seeds evenly over the buttered tops.
  9. Bake Uncovered: Return the uncovered casserole dish to the oven and bake for an additional 10 minutes to toast the buns and finish melting the cheese.

Notes

  • Using frozen meatballs makes this recipe quick and easy but feel free to use homemade meatballs if preferred.
  • Provolone cheese melts well, but mozzarella or cheddar can be substituted for different flavor profiles.
  • If you prefer a spicier slider, add a dash of hot sauce to the BBQ sauce before cooking.
  • Serve immediately for best taste and texture, as sliders are best enjoyed warm.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated and reheated, but buns may lose some crispness.
