Description

A refreshing and creamy Greek Feta Dip featuring whipped feta cheese combined with fresh vegetables like grape tomatoes, cucumber, and red onion. This delightful dip is flavored with herbs and spices, perfect for serving with pita chips or crostinis as a light appetizer or snack.

Ingredients

Scale

Cheese Base

  • 8 ounces Feta Cheese (block feta recommended)
  • 8 ounces Cream Cheese
  • 3 Tablespoons Extra-Virgin Olive Oil
  • 1/2 Lemon (juiced, about 1 1/2 Tablespoons)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon Basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon Pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon Red Pepper Flakes
  • 1 teaspoon Salt

Vegetable Topping

  • 12 to 16 ounces Grape Tomatoes (sliced in half)
  • 1 Hot House Cucumber (sliced)
  • 2 Tablespoons Red Onion (diced)
  • 1 to 2 Tablespoons Extra-Virgin Olive Oil
  • Kalamata Olives (optional)

For Serving

  • Pita Chips or Crostinis

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cheese Mixture: Add feta cheese, cream cheese, lemon juice, extra-virgin olive oil, basil, oregano, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper to a food processor or mixing bowl. Blend or mix thoroughly until the mixture is completely smooth, creamy, light, fluffy, and spreadable, scraping down the sides as needed.
  2. Make the Vegetable Topping: In a separate bowl, combine the sliced grape tomatoes, sliced cucumber, diced red onion, and kalamata olives if using. Toss everything together with extra-virgin olive oil, salt, and pepper to coat evenly. Adjust seasoning by tasting and adding more if desired.
  3. Assemble the Dip: Spread the whipped feta mixture generously onto a platter or shallow bowl, creating swoops and swirls with the back of a spoon for a visually appealing presentation.
  4. Top and Finish: Spoon the fresh vegetable topping evenly over the whipped feta base. Drizzle lightly with extra-virgin olive oil and garnish with additional herbs or red pepper flakes if desired, then serve with pita chips or crostinis.

Notes

  • Using block feta rather than crumbled feta helps achieve a creamier texture.
  • The blend of cream cheese with feta mellows the tanginess and adds smoothness.
  • Adjust the amount of red pepper flakes according to your spice preference.
  • Optional kalamata olives add a classic Greek briny flavor.
  • Serve immediately or chill slightly before serving to allow flavors to meld.
  • This dip is great for parties, light lunches, or as an appetizer.
