Description

Majarete Delight is a creamy and luscious Latin American dessert made from coconut milk and thickened with cornstarch to create a smooth pudding. Enhanced with vanilla and a touch of salt, it’s garnished with fresh tropical fruits, caramel sauce, and toasted coconut flakes, delivering a sweet, exotic treat perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 can Coconut milk (Full-fat recommended)
  • 1/4 cup Cornstarch (For thickening)
  • 1/2 cup Sugar (Adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt (A pinch to enhance flavors)

Garnishes

  • 1 cup Fresh fruit (Mango or berries recommended)
  • 1/4 cup Caramel sauce (Drizzle for added sweetness)
  • 1/4 cup Toasted coconut flakes (For garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the thickening mixture: In a medium bowl, combine the cornstarch with a small amount of coconut milk to create a smooth slurry. This will prevent lumps when cooking.
  2. Mix main ingredients: Pour the remaining coconut milk into a saucepan over medium heat. Add the sugar, salt, and vanilla extract, stirring until sugar dissolves completely.
  3. Cook the pudding: Gradually whisk the cornstarch slurry into the simmering coconut milk mixture. Continue stirring frequently to avoid lumps and cook until the mixture thickens into a creamy pudding consistency, approximately 10 to 15 minutes.
  4. Cool the Majarete: Remove from heat and pour the pudding into serving bowls or glasses. Let it cool for a few minutes, then refrigerate for at least an hour to fully set and chill.
  5. Add toppings and serve: Before serving, top each portion with fresh mango or berries, drizzle caramel sauce over the top, and sprinkle with toasted coconut flakes for added texture and sweetness.

Notes

  • Adjust sugar level according to your preferred sweetness.
  • Use full-fat coconut milk for a richer texture.
  • To toast coconut flakes, lightly toast them in a dry skillet over medium heat until golden brown and fragrant.
  • Fresh tropical fruits like mango pair best with the dessert’s flavors, but seasonal berries work well too.
  • Ensure constant stirring during cooking to prevent lumps or sticking.
