Ingredients
Scale
Cake
- 1 Red Velvet Cake Mix
- Eggs as required (can omit one egg)
Filling and Toppings
- 1 16 oz Whipped Topping, divided
- 1 small box Cheesecake, White Chocolate, or Vanilla Pudding Mix (Vanilla recommended for more flavor)
- 1 8 oz package softened Cream Cheese
- 1/2 cup Sugar (adjust to taste)
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
- White Chocolate Bar or White Chocolate Kit Kat Bars (for shaving)
- Red Sprinkles (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Cake: Mix and bake the red velvet cake according to the package directions, optionally omitting one egg. Bake until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Let cool completely before proceeding.
- Prepare the Pudding Mixture: Mix the pudding according to package instructions. Once set, fold in 8 oz of the whipped topping gently to create a creamy pudding filling.
- Prepare the Cream Cheese Mixture: In a separate bowl, combine the softened cream cheese with the remaining 8 oz whipped topping. Add 1/2 cup sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, mixing thoroughly until smooth and creamy.
- Cut the Cake: Once the cake is completely cooled, remove from pans and cut into small squares suitable for layering in the trifle dish.
- Assemble the Trifle: In your chosen clear serving dish, layer the cake squares, shaved white chocolate, pudding mixture, and cream cheese mixture alternately, creating visually appealing layers.
- Finish and Garnish: Top the final layer with additional shaved white chocolate and red sprinkles if desired for added color and texture. Chill before serving for best flavor and consistency.
Notes
- You can omit one egg in the cake mix to make it lighter.
- Vanilla pudding adds a richer flavor compared to cheesecake or white chocolate pudding.
- Use softened cream cheese for easier mixing and smoother texture.
- Shave white chocolate just before assembly for the best presentation and melt control.
- This trifle can be refrigerated for up to 2 days; the flavors meld together beautifully over time.
